Salt

Hi Guys

Last question for today. Promise! :-)
I feed my own grain mix to my horses. They also get a vitamin mineral mix 
and 1tbls spoon of loose salt once a day. I have noticed a change that is 
making me wonder if I am not giving to much salt. When it is an excessively 
warm day some of the horses come in at night with white crystal type 
"stuff" (sorry I cannot be technical :-)) on their rumps!
Is this good or bad?
