Re: RC: renee's troubles
Hi Renee
I've never seen any correlation between brains and spelling skills so I
believe you're safe there. Sometimes dreams take time and I believe you
are correct in waiting until you have the money to support a horse
before you purchase one. It is a pity that you don't live closer to me
because I have lots of horses that would love to be ridden (all my mares
are broke and ridden on trail---don't like the concept of
"broodmare=standing in pasture idle although I don't have time to ride
all of them often enough, and well my girls have turned from horses to
boys I'm afraid). BUT I'm sure their are other people like me not too
far from you. You may have to put in your dues and shovel some you know
what and exercise the horses in front of them for a while until they
trust your skills; I know Valerie has a lot of volunteers that put miles
on her horses just to learn from her. You might see if you can
apprentice somewhere; there are always things I am learning from
different trainers. Perhaps some people on this ridecamp have two
endurance horses and would love to have you ride one of them at events
so that they get the miles put on them---again, you'll have to prove
yourself as a competent rider with gentle hands before most will trust
you on their horses. YOu don't need to ride just ONE horse. YOu learn
better riding a multitude--keeps you on your toes--horses have so many
different areas of expertise in their teaching skills. I grew up riding
at Holdorffs Riding Academy near Chicago and every weekend was a new
adventure mastering new challenges---we had our lessons riding, not only
in the ring, but in the myriads of forest preserves. Never could predict
my horse' behavior so always had to be on guard. I believe it made me
the better rider for it; I know I can stay on almost anything. So behind
every cloud there is.....
Good luck in your horse pursuits.

I've learned that life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer it
gets to the end, the faster it goes. Smell the roses!
