Re: RC:  head carriage and split reins
This month's issue of Equus has an article on the horse's vision. It mentions 
that the horse elevates his head when going faster because his binocular 
field has to see the ground far in advance for his safety (footing). I've 
also found that the higher the head the more disengaged the brain becomes.
