Did the 25 at Warner Springs last year barefoot. Did all our training miles
before we started competing barefoot. When we got to 20+ training miles a
week and a 25 or a 50 ride once a month, we just ran out of hoof and had to
add shoes. Could have gone to easyboots, but I'm still avoiding the
learning curve required<G> I expect to pull shoes this week and keep both
horses barefoot until just before Warner Springs in January. Will probably
pull them again after the ride and leave them off until late March/early
April when we start seriously competing. I do add pads for rocky rides -
the horses seem to want to move out better and don't pick their way gingerly
thru the rocks with shoes & pads.
