It's true that there's no such thing as a "free horse". Most of us spend more on the things that go along with owning a horse than the horse itself! However, just because the horse is a gift does not make the horse suspect. People may get tired of owning a horse, their goals change, or they plain don't have a good personality fit with the horse and may be more compatible with someone else. But it is a commitment, and not one to be taken lightly. I agree with all those comments re: trial period, vet checks, trainers, etc. And start slow, take it easy and build up trust if you decide to keep her. Good Luck! If that is so, I always question a freebie. Her club foot probably should be ok with very good shoeing etc. Even though she has been on a flat pasture, while not ideal, should not be a problem. You need to take your time with her and develope her up with long, slow works etc. Also consider sending her to an experienced trainer you have confidence in. You'll be $$ ahead and also find out what her holes are, if any. Remember there is no free lunch! Good luck.
