Re: Shakey mare
Maybe your horse is not fit enough for the mileage your asking, or maybe its
loss of salts.
Mine did a 40 race ride this season on an unexpextedly hot day. He sought of
boiled over ( like a car would) went very hot and slowed down. His shoulder
muscles also started to quiver. I think it may have been the heat and loss
of essential salts.
Alternativly she may be a 'shiverer' I dont know what causes that and wether
it occurs prior post or mid exercise. I saw one hrose at the end of a ride
with it - she sought of quivered like a greyhound does. Didnt seem to harm
her but didnt helop her heart rates.
Good luck with your horse.

The question I have is this year I have noticed she will start quivering
after about 1 hour into the ride. I have noticed this in cool weather as
well as warm weather. We live in the Black Hills of South Dakota so its not
that hot here. It doesen't seem to matter if she is sweated up or not. Is
this something I should give electrolytes for? I have had this mare from
birth and this is her second year under saddle. I would sure appreciate any
advise in this from you all. I am very fond of this mare and will be talking
to the vet soon, but in the mean time......
