Barb Peck bpeck@together.net Barb Peck bpeck@together.net Very good posts from Bob, Susan and Charlotte. We as horse owners, have to be willing to put the time, effort and money PLUS be informed enough about the animal to fill in the blanks to the Vet when there's a problem. This includes questions about the diagnosis/treatment. Horse owners should also be able to understand basic medical terminology, anatomy, etc. in order to be able to discuss problems with the Vet. (If you call the fetlock joint the hock, I guarantee there won't be much dialogue). I don't think it takes a Vet too long to figure out how informed and involved the owner wants to be (and visa-versa). ( IMO distance riders VERY informed and willing). Also, I think a competent Vet, will not be threatened by questions from a competent owner. If they are, then maybe it's time to move on to a second opinion sooner than later. Regards, Barb
