newbie sponsors

Sandy,  PNER has a mentor program, but we haven't tried sponsoring newbies.  
It sounds like a really good idea!  That way, a rider doesn't have to wish 
and hope for a rider to come along and help them out.  And, if the newbie 
wants to go one, let that be between the sponsor and the newbie.  But it 
probably would save on confusion, agaony, and fear (what?  FEAR?) as a new 
rider.  And, the horse may benefit by having a knowledgeable partner to 
discuss this endurance riding thing our owners are doing...Who knows what 
they are saying!
