PNER teams
Another point about PNER teams: The roster is sent to the team committee
person at the beginning of the season. However, there is one week, about
the first week in June it seems, when the captain can submit revisions.
Last year we made a change that riders who do not COMPLETE a ride prior to
the June week may be dropped from the team. Once on the team, though, and
once you've completed, you may not leave the team. In other words: If you
move out of the region, have completed a ride prior to the June week, the
team loses your spot. However, if you have not completed a ride prior to
the June week, the team may bring in another member in your place.
Also, both seniors and juniors may join the same team.
Some teams, as indicated, are very very competitive. Others, barely able to
field three for a distance (like mine, the Bandannas) in more than one or
two rides. We have some very good riders, but not enough this year to make
three in a distance. That's the strategy part. And, some teams are very
organized with a crew at every vet check. It's quite impressive to watch
the rider come in and the crew jump into action. It's like watching the pit
crew at an auto race!
Our team doesn't have dues; but then, we don't organize like some.
Janet (I'd send team rules to anyone interested by separate cover.)
