Re: Fw: Teams
I was a member of one of the PNER Teams years ago...I'll try to explain how
it worked---hopefully, there is someone out there to correct me where I'm
wrong...Everyone on the team had to be a member of PNER(Pacific Northwest
Endurance Riders) The team and its members had to be declared to the PNER
before the ride season started...seems to me there could be up to twelve
members on a team....someone was designated as the team "leader"...the
leader was extremely vital to the success of the team...Each team had a
name(ours was something really creative like the MONTANA TEAM
;o)...anyway...the leader would stay in close touch with all the team
members to find out where they were in their conditioning...what their next
ride was going to be, and what distance they wanted to enter...If there was
a ride coming up with a 50, 75 and 100...the object would be to have at
least three riders from the team in each distance...preferably more...at
least three members of the team had to successfully complete in a distance
in order for the team to receive points at that ride in that distance...in
other words...if four team members entered the 50, but only 2
completed...the team received zero points in the 50...If four people entered
and all four completed...points were counted on the first three of the four.
Strategies varied. Lots of times, all the team members would ride
together...especially on the 75's and 100's... Our team leader was extremely
organized and motivating...I think our team won three years in a row. Seems
to me, only PNER sanctioned rides participated...and team awards were given
out at the annual PNER convention...You'll have to ask someone else about
the point system...how they were calculated..etc...It was fun!
