	A few years ago, I was head vet for a smallish 50 mile ride and had the
other vet cancel last minute. It was touch and go whether the ride would
even go off. The RM and I managed to recruit a local track vet at the very
last minute (i.e., about 5 minutes before the briefing.)
	So I told the riders at the briefing that if I heard *one word* about
anyone being rude to the other vet, they were in deep doo doo with me, as
she was  being an absolute peach to even come.
	After the end of the ride, the other vet came up to me and said, "These
guys are strange. They must have all been trying for brownie points or
something." I asked why she said that.
	"Well, everytime I checked over a horse, the rider would thank me
repeatedly and tell me they were really glad I came."
