RE: Re: Stalls 101

A few years back, a very experienced horsewoman/trainer on San Juan Island
was killed, in a stall, by a horse. She was alone, so no one saw it, but
she was crumpled against one of the walls in the stall and died from a blow
to the head.

There is no reason to "lead" a horse into a stall, just the same as there is
no need to "lead" a horse into a trailer, when they are trained correctly.
Their stall is supposed to be home and safe, and if it isn't, then address
that issue. I could open the big doors to my barn (on San Juan) and each
horse (4) would walk down the central isle to its own stall very nicely and
go in.

Don't see any problem with this....I do it the same way!!!It would be their
ass if they tried to run me over...have to get by my shoulder first....It's
usually called respect...and they usually give it to you...Cora
