EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING 26 SEPTEMBER 2000
The Executive Board met on 26 September 2000 in Sydney. The following
items
were discussed/accepted:
Categorisation of National Federations
The Executive Board accepted a new system for the categorisation of
National
Federations, based on their international participation and the number
of
international events organised in the country. This proposal was
developed
following the request from many developing Federations to have a
reduction
in the annual fee. This new system will comprise six levels instead of
the
previous four. The new categorisation will be presented to the next
General
Assembly in April 2001 for approval.
Amendment to Vaulting Rules
The Executive Board confirmed the amendments to the Rules of Vaulting
proposed by the Vaulting Committee, to be effective 1 January 2001.
Amendment to Pony Rules
An amendment to the Rules for Pony Riders, on the procedures for the
measurement of ponies, was accepted. The new rules will come into effect
on
1 January 2001.
Amendment to Eventing Rules
Further amendments to the Eventing Rules, following the recommendations
of
the Eventing Safety Committee, were approved, to be effective 1 January
2001.
Future of Eventing
Mr Wayne Roycroft, Chairman of the Eventing Committee, was invited for a
thorough discussion about the format of the Eventing competitions for
the
future. The Executive Board asked the Eventing Committee to come back
with
proposals.
New Dressage Riders Rankings
The new rules for the Dressage Riders Rankings were approved, and will
be
implemented in January 2001. Developed in co-operation with the Dressage
Riders and Organisers Associations, the new rankings will be
percentage-based and run on a twelve-month basis. Scores by the riders
with
any horse will be taken into account.
Assessment of infrastructures of 2008 Olympic Games candidate cities
2008 Olympic Games: Paul Weier (SUI) and Dr Bo Helander (SWE), Secretary
General, were appointed to visit the five candidate cities (Beijing,
Istanbul, Osaka, Paris, Toronto) before 17 January 2001, to assess the
technical infrastructure for equestrian sport.
