Re: RAT

Thanks for noticing.

I am very sentimental about ride and tie.

For me it is a fantasy fulfilling thing.

I just go for it, but only with horse and person partners I really care about.

It is a threesome that must stick together and really think constantly for the success and survival of their threesome.

It is a serious emotional bonding: including lots of physical successes and no matter where you place   TO FINISH IS TO WIN!

RACE BREED GENDER AGE ETC....JUST ARE NOT SIGNIFICANT

Go for it, don't miss the chance for another great adventure.

Joan

PS  A ton of the fun is in the training. Create yourself a team you really like, then get enough backups, human and equine, to form at least another team, take along your dogs, extra riders and runners and create as much confusion for the Ride and Tie team as you can.

every one has fun and it keeps the RAT team concentrating on their own game while all else is happening around them.  This is especially helpful to create a team oriented horse.

AND you are training Endurance teams at the same time.

Subject: RAT

Hi Joan--Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed the RAT article about you and your family in the Sept. EN.  You really started something way back then, didn't you!  Good on you (as the Aussies would say).

From one 60 something woman to another, how much do you train, particularly during the winter to do RAT?  I quit running several years ago but am seriously thinking of working into it again this winter.  I did a few RAT in the early 80s and enjoyed them then.
Thanks, Betty
