Dear Shelly;
There is more to saddle fit
than being wide enough in the "withers" or shoulders. I have
found it to be important to fit primarily the ribcage under where you sit,
have the proper angle and width for the shoulders, and finally to curve up
appropriately for that particular horse's loin shape. If any of these
points are not met, there will be issues after enough miles. It is even
important on a short saddle.
