Yep.  They are sort of the human equivalent of DVM 
chiropractors--orthopedists are MD's who essentially do chiropractic work but 
don't call it that.  A graduate human DC is more like a DDS--has a fair 
amount of medical training in the pursuit of one system, but is not actually 
an MD.
