Neat "tool" for mounting

Ellen McCutcheon arak@vallnet.com
(This is not an ad of any kind!) -- just a great thing to have around for keeping the saddle from slipping while mounting I have two Arabians - my mare, Aunt Farah is 14 hh and really round, with no withers. Asha is 16.2 hh (yup. a wonderful Big Guy, and purebred, too!). Anyrate, I needed help with getting on both - with AF to keep the saddle from slipping! I found something called The Saddle Stabilizer (http://www.hotstuff4horses.com/saddle_stabilizer.htm) and I love it! It's a nylon strap that attaches to your saddle and then under the horse's forearm, and then clips onto itself. After mounting, you unsnap it and just carry it along on the saddle, til you need it again. The thing really does work! It's like having a friend counterweight the off side, as you mount. Even though the manufacturer said that it was "comfortable" for the horse, I did make a fleece sleeve for mine. Neither AF nor Asha never had any problem getting used to it, and it's helped me tremendously (not being a spry as I once was).

As I said, this isn't a "paid endorsement." I just think it's such a neat product I wanted to share it with Ridecamp.

Namaste!
