Theoretically, yes. But it puts a whole new slant on the sport and some
riders rather resent the fact that a superb runner can give his horse that
much advantage, if it IS an advantage, over those who stay on the horse the
whole time. There is nothing in AERC rules that states a "rider" cannot run
the whole way.
