Fortunately, Pagan is quite well behaved and lives with dozens of mares
about 20 feet from his pen (even if some of them are his daughters - he
doesn't care). But since he is actively being breed, any new horse (mare
or gelding) is a potential mate as far as he's concerned. He'll check
them out visually and whinny his darned head off until he figures out what
they are.
He hasn't shown in a few years, but he was always fine around mares in the
hunter rings at shows - but heartrate was never an issue there.
I'm *so* happy to hear that heartrate isn't a big issue with the 'boys' in
Egypt. That's been my only concern with Pagan - any other behavior is
completely controlable.
