Amen to that!  Finally a little sense on the subject.  If you don't want to 
be involved in FEI, just don't.  If you just want to ride your own ride on 
your own horse for no money, just points, then just do it.  If you want to 
pursue world competition, and you have a good enough horse, and enough money 
to it, go for it.  Like everything else in this world, there are a lot of 
right ways and only one wrong way--not being true to what you personally 
believe in.  I believe I'll just ride my horse.  jeri
