DEPO-PROVERA

Hi, all.  Just full of questions today, aren't I.

 

 

I am having behavioural problems with Toc - he is very dominant and tends to beat up other horses.  He will arch his neck and kick out with his fore-leg, giving a squeal.  He bites and kicks.  My vet has suggested that I give him a Depo-Provera shot to see if it helps alleviate his behaviour.  Apparently, it is a progesterone shot. 

 

 

Does anyone have any experience with this drug?  Will it alter his behaviour?  I don't want him to lose his character (well, not the good parts, anyway).  Also, he is really muscular and cresty, will the drug detract from this?
