Re: RC: Small Truck/Brenderup Trailer

   Some anecdotal evidence:

I've had my Brenderup trailer for about ten years. I initially used a
Chevy Blazer (roughly equivalent to an S-10) to tow it - worked great until
I started hauling in the mountains regularly, then I burned out a clutch,
got that fixed, then the transmission went. The repair shop told me it was
the towing that caused the breakdowns in my vehicle. Also, although the
Brenderup breaking system allowed me to go downhill safely, even when towing
with the smaller vehicle, uphill travel was grueling. I'd be lucky to keep
up to 35 mph on the interstate going uphill, less on secondary roads where I
didn't have a "running start". Since I've used a 3/4 ton (either pickup or
Suburban) I had no towing related problems with my vehicles.
BUT, I knew three people in my area who towed their Brenderups with
lighter vehicles (a station wagon, a Caravan, and a light truck - nothing
below 6 cylinders though), and they were quite happy with the arrangement.
They also traveled only on relatively flat land.
