Re: RC: Re: Safety of reins?

I ride with a pair of Yacht rope reins, not split . . . and yes, those brass
scissor snaps *will* break under stress. Darling, dancing, David and I were
going up a steep embankment, I wasn't paying as much attention as I should
(bad rider! bad!), gave out too much rein, right at the top he stepped on
the rein, and at the same moment as he started to have a fit the scissor snap
broke and all was fine. Well, except for the scissor snap . . .

<< Rawhide's fine. So's using brass 'scissor snaps' on the ends.

I guarantee those suckers will break under stress. I keep a drawer full of
 replacements.

 Rawhide's cheaper. :)
