RE: Off and on lameness
Since it started to happen after he was shod with pads,
I'd look at the packing the farrier used.
Did he use silicone packing?
Some horses have an allergic response to silicone packing
and it'll cause lamness.
On a completely difference note... sometimes intermittant
lamness can be cause by tiny bone or cartilage fragments
that move around, get caught somewhere in the joint
& cause some pain.
