Kak Worm Infection
Dear Jessica:
Thanks for your time. I won't bug
you again (for awhile) & you don't need to reply. I used the Kak
Cleaner and then installed the patch Q240308.exe a few days ago. I then
ran the Kak cleaner again & it said my disk was clear. I thought
everything was ok & sent an e-mail to ride camp. An e-mail from Duncan
Fletcher said I had the virus. I don't want to send it to everyone &
as you can probably tell, I in over my head with this virus. I went into
my deleted files and my recycle bin and the active x popped up on the deleted
files from myself & from ride camp. The reason I thought I had the
virus is from Duncan Fletcher. The virus was probably still on my computer
on the deleted files & the recycle bin, which is why it showed up on his
computer as an Active X. I then deleted all of that and reinstalled the
patch and cleaned by disk using the Kak Cleaner. I alos decided to take
the bull by the horns & go through your suggestion of going into myautoexc
file, following your instructions explicitly, but did not see any of the files
you said to delete. I do have VirusScan by McAfee now & I saw those
files. I hope I've taken care of the virus (for now) and I'm relieved I
didn't infect some poor innocent (like myself!) Thanks again,
Kathy.
