A guy we sold a gelding to had the same problem. Nobody could figure it
out. Amazingly enough, it turned out he had ticks in his ears - why this
should result in explosions occasionally is anybody's guess, but after the
vet treated the gelding's ears, the explosions stopped. Maybe your horse's
problem IS pain related. Lif
