The Pillsbury State Forest is outside of Brainerd, Minnesota (north central Minnesota)...plenty of steep sandy hills with rocks.  Heat, humidity, cool, wet, buggy, stormy, all in one day.  There is a saying by Minnesotan's (who I've decided really have good senses of humor cuz they are making money off of making fun of themselves!!!) that goes: "if you don't like the weather, just wait alittle bit and it'll change"...or something to that effect.  Not mountains or elevation mind you, but a very challenging ride!  Anne can elaborate if she's out there!!  bev
