RE: Re: Arabic Name Help

We'd say Dell el Amar here, literally Shadow of the moon. There's no
masc/fem according to the horse's sex, because the words themselves are
already with a gender.

From: <TddWil@aol.com>> so I have free rein. He was named Moon Shadow by the
mare owner. His barn > name is Shadow. I found some websites with Arabic
names, and Zilla means > shadow. Question - would that be spelled the same
for male or female? I know > the strain names are different, like
kuhaylah/kuhaylan. I cant seem to find > any more info on this.

according to the book I have:
moon Gamal (phonetically Gay-mahl')
moonlight Gamra (Gam-ray) or Da Al Gamar (Dow Ahl Gah-mahr')
full moon Gamar (Gahmahr')
new moon Shahr (Shahr) or Hilal (He-lahl')

for Shadow it lists: Zilall (Zee-lahl), Dhelall (Dhe-lahl), Azlal
(Azhl-lahl), Zill (Zeell)

it doesn't show a distinction on these words as to being a male or female.
