Pigment loss

My 6 year old Anglo has a significant pigment loss starting at the bottom corner of one eye he scratched last year, and a few other such spots on his nose, top and sides. Needles to say, he's grey, we live in FLORIDA, where it's impossible to keep out of the sun.  I use Desitin and/or an Avon product with sunscreen and bug repellent, but I'm concerned about this getting out of control.
