Check out the hopeforsoundness website.  You can get a lot of answers there.
You may also want to have the vet check out your horse in case something
else is going on that is causing the collapsing.  I, personally, do not feel
a horse will forge due to laziness.  Could be shoeing, fatigue, or something
else.
