I once had a pair of boots that I had to literally pour the water out of. I
washed them [because they were covered in mud too] and just put Lexol on them
with my hands about 1-2 times a day and let them dry naturally. I left them
in the laundry room. They were better after they dried than before they got
wet. Water itself does not hurt leather, however heat and dampness do. I
have tried all of the expensive and not so expensive stuff. I like New
Leather the best but they quit making it and I went back to Leather New which
is about the same. It works just as well as the other. If you know how to
wash and clarify bacon grease, that is the best thing to use on almost
anything from leather to horse boo boos.....Maryben
