That must be the guy I met in the Canyon section of the Tevis ride.  He said 
that he'd made a deal with the horse -- he'd run half if the horse would let 
him ride the other half.   Very nice guy who was managing to smile WHILE he 
was running those dang canyons.  Amazing!
