RC: Stallion behavior

Hi
I've used that one too on a stallion who believed he had to rear and
walk on his hind legs 50 feet towards the mare he was going to breed. It
is amazing what a loud noise a plastic whiffle bat makes and how it can
get a boy's attention. He came from the Van Camp estate and was stood at
stud at a very prestigious barn before we bought him. It amazed me that
he was allowed to get away with that behavior.
At the start of the season, Hal can become overanxious for his first
date (after all, he's been counting the days) and once tried to "rush" a
maiden mare. My husband was holding him at the time and was tired and
said to just let him breed. I am a FIRM believer in foreplay--even for
mares and ESPECIALLY maidens (even though sidelined). I literally pulled
the mare forward out from underneath him and put him back in his stall
for 2 hours. Needless to say I had an almost gelding when he approached
her the second time. Most times it doesn't take force, just cunning.

I've learned that life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer it
gets to the end, the faster it goes. Smell the roses!
