Re: RC: Stallion-Colt
Hi Mike
That would be fine to teach him manners but I would also put in another
colt or gelding that he could play with--- life shouldn't be all that
bleak (alone with an old mare). My stallion/colts were all in the same
pasture from weanlings to the 14 year old stallion. Hal was separated
because he was not brought up as my others were; however, after watching
them have so much fun together, Hal wanted more socialization so we now
let Hal out of his paddock so he can nuzzle the younger ones over the
fence. We took Jumper out and put him with his favorite gelding (they're
in the GAY CABALLERO pasture) Although Hal nuzzles the weanlings and 3
year olds and even thwe gelding we put in there, we still have to
separate the 2 "main studmuffins" as they see each other as competing
for the same mares. We also do not bring mares in heat up to the 3 year
olds as we think it MAY <bg> put a strain on their friendship. It's
soooo healthy for their minds and easier on the owners!
