The longest time I ever spent was 18 miles on the Black Rock
Desert...completely repetitious and monotonous flat dried mud with the heat
reflecting up from the ground. I was on an energetic horse, too, and riding
with another rider, so it wasn't lack of company or just the horse being
lazy. The moment we left the playa and went into the sagebrush, the horse
came alive and ziipped along. Amazing difference in attitude.
<<Much of the allure of endurance
riding is seeing new country, new trails and new people.
The opportunity to see new vegetation, spring flowers, the birds and
animals, that is what endurance riding is to us.>>
If this sets you apart from others and brands you as "different", then count
us in. We feel the same way!
