Re: safe to feed joint supplements to younger horses?
There's no adverse side to the oral GAG's, *except* that there is still alot
of question about how much of the oral dose actually gets absorbed and
utilized. Colorado State is halfway through data collection on
effective-dose trials of the oral supplements, and their effect on healing
joint lesions, but earlier work suggested that you have to feed a *bunch* to
get effective response---enough that it becomes more cost-effective to go
with the injectable, more proven forms, such as Adequan. Might be worth
considering to go with the injectable until the trial are published sometime
later this year. It's still expensive, but the results are more likely to
be of true, objective benefit.
