One of the biggest infusions of Arabian blood into Spanish (and other
European) programs occurred with the Moorish invasion of Europe in 711. A
good historian to contact about this is Pat Merkle in Colorado, who can
likely give you some very specific references if you care to delve more
deeply. Her e-mail addy is MKOnyxArab@aol.com. She is one of many
historians that would be more than willing to go into great detail about this
for you.
<< History is interesting and
there are a lot of myths out there. But there needs to be some support for
the challenge. >>
Certainly. Which is why it is frustrating when so much actual history is
ignored...
<<There is of course a whole nuther (but related) issue of how
much non arab blood is in the Arab and where did the various 'foundation'
breeds separate from common ancestry to become distinct breeds.>>
Life in general would certainly support the idea that there is most likely
SOME but with the care that has been taken with provinences of most Arab
sources, there is not likely to be very much.
<<And whatever the answer to the original statement, the arab blood (if any)
is very ancient and probably substantially different from the modern arab.
Would an Arab from 1400 even be recognizable as an Arab today. Hell, the
show ring Arabs are barely recognizable compared to Arabs of 1900. >>
Actually, the Arab remained relatively unchanged until QUITE modern
times--try the mid 20th century--and although the original type is not at the
forefront of the modern show ring, it is still alive and well in a great many
breeding programs around the country.
