Ft. Howe and Colorado Wildfires
Went up to ride the Ft. Howe 100 again this year, even though we pulled at 40
miles, as usual Jan and Bill put on a great ride. I want to thank them for
everything. Anyone considering coming up and doing their ride, put it on
your calendar for next year. Its two weeks after Memorial weekend. You will
not be disappointed.
Monday, two separate wildfires started in Colorado. One in the Northern
Mountains near Loveland and another about 40 miles SW of Denver in the Bailey
area. I live about 15 miles from the Bailey fire.
What amazing thing fire is. These fires are still out of control and each
have burnt more than 7000 acres a piece. Today the winds and dry hot air is
not helping the 1000+ firefighters that are fighting each of the two fires.
I want to thank all these men and women for the never ending work that they
do to protect our forests and homes. They really have an endless job that
doesn't pay much.
We have taken in several horses and goats from areas that the fire has hit
and am enjoying taking care of them. The Jefferson County Fairgrounds opened
up their stalls and people have brought over 200 horse and other animals
there. Many vets supplies and a semi truck of hay was donated to help feed
all these animals.
Thanks to those volunteers and people who donated needed feed and supplies.
I'm always thankful for the people of Colorado. Their hearts are very big
and warm.
