Gaited Horses & Spooking

Kim aliakey@yahoo.com

I've been keeping up with the gaited horse thread because someday soon,
I would like to consider a Tennessee Walker, mostly because of my
bad back.

But, many posts have mentioned how TWH spook their "ungaited" horses on trail
due to the unpaired footfalls. Could these same riders explain how they would
like to see the situation handled on the trail? Obviously, if the horse
is gaited (and the one I am looking at does not trot willingly), what can I do to
keep a million curses from being aimed at me if I pass you on trail? Is there
some unwritten trail etique that should be followed that I am unaware of?

Thanks much!

Kim
