It is just dirt. But they put either calcium or lime or something like that
on it to keep the dust down - and it does. The result is a road that feels
almost like a pumice block. It's not quite that hard, but it's harder than
it looks. :-) There's little if any give at the surface. On the sides, the
give comes from the dust and loose rock that builds up. A few looong rides
on the stuff wears the shoes off my horses - easy to do long rides and as
the roads go for miles and miles.
