Yes, my experience is that the Russians are the most mellow as a rule
(OF COURSE there are exceptions--both ways). When I bought the Van Camp
herd from the trust I noticed an interesting phenomenon. Now remember,
Van Camp (of Pork and Beans, Starkist Tuna...) bought the best
bloodlines he could find of the Russian and Polish as he was determined
to lead in the racing industry--- paid an absolute fortune for these
horses and then imported them to the US (the Algomej son alone cost
$100,000). So here 18 of the mares are, in our huge pasture. The Polish
mares were kicking the you know what out of the Russians and were much
more demanding. We thought it might have had something to do with prior
politics and revenge<BG>
Just an interesting observation.
