XP rides (Bryce/Zion )

Hi everyone, 
This is sort of a endurance question.  I am thinking of doing the XP rides in late August/Sept.  What I would like to know is where a safe camping place is on the road to spend the night.  I will leave from Northern CA.  I pretty much know the route to Fernley and past a ways, but will need 2 nights safe sleeping for me and horses. Don't need motel or anything, am self-contained, but hey, if there are any "horsetels" around that would be fine.  Any information will be great.
Also, how is the ride?  I heard it is fantastic!!!!
