update on horse licking dirt/gravel

Someone had mentioned that there could be limestone in the
gravel. Coincidently, I limed my lawn last year and spilled
a bunch in one particular spot. The horses were out on the
lawn the last couple of days and they have been digging out
the grass and licking the dirt in the exact same spot. How
can I supplement this? Any ideas? Vets? Nutritionists?
