RE: RC: RE: Re: Horses Living Outside

Merryben - sure - I migrate to Lightfoot in the winter usually and Beau
lives in the bushes - AND LIKES IT.

But it's me that complains about the cold, not my horse.

Beau spent the winter in Portola Valley, which is next to Woodside, this
last winter. Get the picture? I sheeted him 24/7 because I hated the mud
in his paddock so much and all the other horses were immaculately groomed
with pulled manes all around him. He spent most of the winter bolting out
of his paddock when I visit, and rolling to get his sheet off, so we're
going back to pasture in San Jose next winter.

I know what you mean about Silicon Valley. I grew up in Mtn. View between
Lockheed and a apricot orchard. Only started calling it Silicon Valley
because I don't see orchards any more.

Speak for yourself Kathy. I am just over the hill from you and my horses
and
29 year-old mule are outside. If they want shelter there are trees, bushes
and they use each other. I don't think any of them have seen a blanket
except at races when it is really cold and they are tied. I thought you
lived in San Jose like me.

I hate the term Silicon Valley almost as much as "The Glen" which is the
yuppie term for the neighborhood I live in which is really Willow Glen. Of
course I am weird because I was born here when we only had prunes and
cherries, no computers.....
