Karen, thanks for putting all that valuable info out!!! At Castlerock
a horse got "thumps." His owner was using a home-made electrolyte
formula using dolomite as the calcium source. Nancy Elliot, DVM (head
vet) said that that form of calcium is not readily available to the horse.
For myself, I make sure and take calcium acetate
because I read somewhere, sometime that it was the most easily absorbed
form for humans. Does anyone know which form of calcium is best for
the horse? (I noticed that not all electrolyte formulations in your
chart use the same type & some didn't list the type used.)
Thanks all you chemists and nutritionists!
