It tends to occur most commonly in areas that are hot and humid, can be over
a long period of time or suuden onset. There are a number of causes, not
all of them fully explored, including hypothyroidism, or the sweat glands
just becoming exhausted and degenerating due to continual stimulation. In
those cases, therapy to treat the hypothyroidism are used, or just moving
the horse to a cooler, less humid climate. Or anhidrosis can just be caused
by insufficient e'lytes and/or dehydration, in which case the cure is
obvious. :-)
