I'm sure some would, but then most physiologists and veterinarians don't
spend time in management situations where they observe horses literally
crunching their way through salt blocks like candy. Also, veterinarians for
the most part deal with the clinical exceptions, not the norms. Again, I am
not saying that it is not a better idea to use loose salt. However, cattle
and other ruminants are far more handicapped by block salt than horses, as
they do not have the dentition to literally crunch it up the way horses do.
