Re: RC: advice on bits for hard pulling wanna go fast horses
<< Hey Karen is this training for you or the horse??????? >>
Hi....Karen isn't here this weekend....she went to a ride. So, while I'm not
answering for her, I have a few cents to throw in....
I think, at some point, you're going to have to get off and walk your horse.
Whether it's because she's tired, or because some monster in the bushes is
scaring the holy bujeesus out of her, I get off and walk my horse, Sere all
the time. I mean, I don't do some kind of neat flying dismount (well, that's
happened a couple times, but on accident....not on this horse) and go jogging
along side my horse....I just take a break and we walk. Usually, when we're
by ourselves, we do this more....but then again, there are more monsters when
we're by ourselves, too >G<. If my horse was being an absolute moron, I'd be
tempted to get off and walk too. I don't think the point is giving up and
walking, I think the point is getting the horse to do what YOU want him/her
to do. Karen told me the "method" (for lack of a better word) she uses when
training her horses. By making them take their time and pay attention at
first, she has come to own two horses who know how to take care of themselves
on the trail, rather than run themselves into the ground.
