Navicular/Caudal Heel/EDSS Shoes

Hi All,

 

Can anybody give me some information on Navicular Bursitis, Caudal Hoof Disease and/or EDSS Shoes?  The vet was down last week and diagnosed my horse with one of the two and wants the farrier to start using EDSS shoes.  I can't find either disease in my Equine Medical Encyclopedia. 

 

Does anybody use this type of shoe?  What do you think of them and could you see a difference in the way the horse traveled?

 

She has him on Adequan every 3 days for 7 weeks and then she will return for a follow-up to see how he is doing on the meds and shoes.

 

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
