I'm always worried about making my posts too long but now you've mentioned
trotters.
Ten years ago in endurance in France there were quite a lot of trotters and
they did quite well at medium level, say up to 90kms/130kms.
Now that the emphasis is on canter you don't see them doing so well because
as you say its almost impossible to teach them to canter.
What goes very well in France (Jacques Begaud for one has a few) is
trotter/Arab and some of them are really nice looking horses.
